Hoda Kotb is one of Clara Sunwoo’s favorite customers. She’s an award-winning reporter and Today show anchor and she can often be seen on air, sporting our signature looks. We’ve known Kotb is a total badass for a long time so we weren’t surprised when we found out she was being featured alongside Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie in InStyle’s Badass Women issue.
What does it mean to be a badass? According to InStyle, badass women are “women who show up, speak up, and get things done.” We couldn’t agree more.
Kotb has a cheerful, sunny disposition, but don’t let that fool you. This woman has grit. From reporting from warzone trenches to battling cancer and weathering a divorce, she’s a woman who isn’t afraid to face life’s challenges head on. But of all the things she’s done, Kotb told InStyle the most badass thing she’s done is becoming a mom when she adopted her daughters Haley and Hope in her 50s. “Becoming a mom was a moment that I thought had passed for me, but I got to reach back in time and grab it,” she explained. Kotb proves that being a badass means taking charge, not just at work, but in your life. She isn’t afraid to take the reins and do things her own way.
Being a badass doesn’t mean having to adopt a stern or serious demeanor. Kotb works hard, but she also makes room for daily laughter and joy. According to her co-host, Kotb always comes to work with a smile on her face. Guthrie told InStyle, “I joke about her being Ms. Happy Pants. But actually I don't want to make it seem effortless because I think it's very effortful. She's giving something of herself.”
We love Kotb’s spirit and it could explain why she’s such a perfect fit for Clara Sunwoo’s signature styles. Clara and Roseann Sunwoo relate to working hard and choosing joy, and that attitude translates into each of the pieces they lovingly design. Like Kotb, these clothes are tough, yet feminine and totally modern. From basic black and classic jewel tones to daring, bold prints, these designs are perfect for bringing out your inner badass.
