The 5 Perfect Basics that Every Woman Needs

There’s no better feeling than finding those essential basics that are “just right.” You know the ones. They fit you like a glove. They last. And somehow they go with everything! Some people say basics are boring, but I love seeking out quality basics because I know that when I’ve got them in my closet I can always pull an amazing outfit together.

The secret to basics is you can’t settle for flimsy fabric or a poor fit. They’ve got to feel great and look great! That’s why I always opt for clean lines and soft, comfortable fabrics that are easy to care for.

Here are the five perfect basics that I can’t live without.

 The Long Tank

Tank tops are a key part of any wardrobe. They keep us cool in the summer, and they’re essential for layering all year round—especially if you run hot and cold like I do!

This Clara Sunwoo long tank is deceptively simple. At first glance it looks like any other tank, but once you put it on, what really makes it stand out is the cut. I love that it flares out just a bit below the waist so it never fits me snug or gathers in the wrong places. This tank always looks sleek and elegant.  It drapes beautifully, and it accentuates my natural waistline without making me feel like I’ve got to suck anything in. It’s sleeveless and lightweight, so it’s perfect for layering. And it comes in classic colors like black, navy, grey and white.

The Long Sleeve Scoop Top

Long sleeve tees are another must have, especially in cooler weather. When you find the right one, it’s almost like finding your security blanket. You won’t want to go anywhere without it!

I love this long sleeve scoop top because it has that same beautiful fit as the Clara Sunwoo tank. The lines curve in at the waist and flare out just a bit at the hip, making me look sleek and sophisticated. Whether I’m dressing it up with a skirt and heels for a nice dinner, or just pairing it with sneakers and jeans for a quick errand, I love how this top makes me look and feel.

The Ankle Pants

Finding the perfect pair of black pants can be a real pain. The length, the fit, and the silhouette all need to come together just right. I used to fuss over all of this until I discovered the Clara Sunwoo side slit ankle pant.

Like classic black pants, these pants have familiar lines, but the side slits add a fun, unique flare. I love how they move when I walk, and they are so breathable and comfy. But what’s really great is they go with everything and you can be tall or petite in height! Since they’re ankle length I can wear them with boots, heels, flats, you name it! And they’re so versatile. I can break them out for brunch, or I can dress them up for an event. I get so many compliments when I wear these pants because of their unique look. Who says basics have to be boring?

The Shift Dress

Every woman needs a little black dress—something you can put on that’s a little bit flirty and sexy, yet simple enough to not steal focus from you!

This Clara Sunwoo shift dress is my absolute favorite take on the little black dress. It’s simple but modern. I love the simple silhouette and the back is so cute. The cross bar and v-cut out make it feminine but edgy. I find myself throwing it on whenever I don’t want to figure out what to wear. I can dress it up or down, and I can use accessories to create a look that’s soft and romantic, or more dramatic and chic. Either way, this dress always makes me feel extra confident and totally effortless.

 The Liquid Leather Jacket

If you’re like me, when you’re looking for basics you seek out cozy comfy cardigans. The liquid leather jacket feels like a cardigan but it looks like a sophisticated leather jacket!

I reach for this jacket whenever I want to give my look a little extra edge. It looks and feels like buttery soft leather, but it’s super breathable and lightweight. I can wear it all day, and it’s as comfortable as my favorite yoga gear. So whether I’m at the office or on the go, I know I’ll feel great while looking like a million bucks. This jacket is super simple but it makes me feel like a total rockstar.
